Julian's opening tour date
Special Thanks to Ron for everything!
Rox I'm so glad you got your dream come true!! ~ CJ
|I have Good and I have not so good. Lets get the not so good over
first and as Jules would say "now its time to move on."
I only got pictures of me and Rox /friends with us before we left and one at Park West Bill board. Then we were given special treatment when security said ..stay right here. Then Jules came out the stage Door After a Rehearsal at 3pm. Unfortunately when he came out he was surrounded by Body Guards and my pictures only got his shoulder. But my wife was only 2 feet from him and is satisfied. She said even being that close and chosen to see him leave gave PEACE of mind.
The Critics in Chi town said he was nervous to a Point he forgot some lyrics. That was true but we as Fans Understood. You see when he forgot he started to laugh and said: "Shit! I forgot my own words." WE all laughed and applauded.
Now lets move on to better things.
The Fans started to line up at noon in the hot sun. By 7:30pm the house was STANDING ROOM ONLY...(700 Plus house capacity.)
The Push Stars From Massachusetts were the opening act. After the first song the lead singer wanted to mentioned a very special note. He said that 'generally when a band goes on tour with someone that usually the main leader of the touring band never speaks to us until weeks after the concert. But I (he) must say that Jules has been the first ever to approach my band and me the minute he step foot in the club, and said to me.. thank you for joining us and its a pleasure to meet you. Julian is a very warm and friendly Person I'll never forget. I can truly understand how HIS FANS must feel.'
THE SHOW BEGINS
WXRT 93FM Gets on Stage and says... 'The Moment we've all been waiting for ... It gives me great pleasure to give to you ..JULIAN LENNON.'
He started with GET A LIFE. After that he commented.. 'WELCOME TO MY REHEARSAL.' Then he said '..as you all know this is our FIRST night for me and for my fans in the U.S., So tonight we are all VIRGINS...' Then he went into AND SHE CRIES.
All through the night he took time to talk to the audience in between songs. At one time he was given a T shirt that said "STILL PISSED AT YOKO!" He laughed and said now we must move on. He sang several tunes from his previous LPs and the following from Photograph Smile. DAY AFTER DAY... COLD... I SHOULD HAVE KNOWN... HOW MANY TIMES... .I DON'T WANNA KNOW... CRUCIFIED... PHOTOGRAPH SMILE. (Complete play list can be found in the News section ~ CJ)
He would give us a little bit of reason behind each song before he did one. Such as why he wrote and dedicated CRUCIFIED. And when he came to reason with him self and wrote GOOD TO BE LONELY. Now at the end of the show his last song was TOO LATE FOR GOOD BYES.. and he held a little singing contest like the old days by splitting up the audience left and right to see who could sing the loudest. My side won.! He left stage and the crowd went in a frenzy with every candle, lighter, etc. shouting Hey Jules, Hey Jules etc. (guess who Started that one)!
He came back out and thanked us. Then he explained how he overcame his problems by figuring out nobody can help you but yourself. And sang GOOD TO BE LONELY. Then he stood there and tipped his only drink of the night and saying... 'THIS IS TO MY FANS AND CHICAGO!'
Then he said YOU CANT LEAVE YET BECAUSE I HAVE TO DO ONE MORE FOR ME. (Are you ready for this CJ? Before I tell you this song I have to say one thing. I hope I don't ruin the ending for you or our friends but... I at my age and a lot of the true fans actually had tears in our eyes when he said.. "Do this for me and thank you for believing..." THEN HE SANG....STAND BY ME...What a finish!!!!!
In Respective: Jules made us all feel like we were all in the yard sipping a spot of tea. He showed his heart felt kindness that we who have never met him have heard about. You could see that even though critics say he was nervous.. he in fact felt at home.
Jules has indeed overcome his differences with himself and the music world. Jules has not only become the Julian Lennon he was searching for, but in my eyes after last night at Park West I believe he IS ALREADY A "LEGEND BEFORE HIS TIME" Also I would like to say that I BELIEVE that I can speak for ALL of us in CHICAGO This special message to Julian:
YOU HAVE TRULY FOUND A WAY TO "OUR" HEARTS THREW "YOURS" AND YOUR MUSIC.
AND WE THE FANS FROM CHICAGO WILL ALWAYS BE PROUD TO STAND BY "YOU"
WELL CJ, THAT'S IT. I WISH I HAD MORE, BUT THAT SHOULD GET THE MEMBERS READY FOR THE CONCERT. I WISH I COULD HAVE KNOW WHAT TO LOOK FOR OR EXPECT.. BUT MAYBE NOT THIS EXPERIENCE WAS THE BEST.. ILL SEND WHAT I GOT IN PICS, BUT THEY AREN'T MUCH.
Talk to ya later Ron.
P.S.. When he was in the limo he looked at our shirts. I could see through the shaded window a THUMBS UP!
